UPCOMING ICC ELECTIONS
General Information
As prescribed by the ICC
Constitution, the 2008-20089 ICC President will be elected by a majority vote
of current Council. Applicants for this
position must self-nominate. Nomination submissions (to be submitted
electronically to President@InterClubCouncil.Com) should include a cover letter
addressed to the Council summarizing the candidate’s vision and interest
in the position as well as current resumé highlighting the candidate’s
qualifications and experience. During the election meeting, each candidate will
deliver a four-minute speech summarizing their platform and will answer up to
four minutes of questions from the Council.
As further defined in the
ICC Constitution, the remaining Executive Board positions will be appointed
through joint decision of the 2008-2009 ICC President and the Student
Organizations Coordinator. Applicants for the Vice President
of Finance, Vice President of Organizational Development and Vice President of
Public Relations. Applicants for
these positions must self-nominate using the aforementioned nomination
submission instructions. Interviews for these positions will be conducted and
the President will appoint his/her E-Board.
Dates and Times
Self-nominations for President are
due by Sunday, 23 March at 11:59pm.
Speeches will be delivered on Wednesday, 26 March at 8pm at the
beginning of the General Council meeting.
Immediately following the speeches, elections will be held via secret
ballot. The elected President will be
announced at the conclusion of the meeting.
Self-nominations for Executive Board positions are due by
Sunday, 30 March at 11:59pm. Interviews
will be scheduled via email during the day on Monday, 31 March, and conducted
during the day on Wednesday, 2 April.
Appointment announcements will be made at the End of the Year Dinner on
Wednesday, 9 April at 6:30pm, and the new Executive Board will run the Final
General Council meeting of the year immediately following the dinner.
General E-Board
Responsibilities
The paramount responsibility of the entire Executive Board is
to aid in the development of campus leaders.
The board is able to do this through their advocacy of the student
experience, stewardship of community resources, and to embody both the
Council’s and University’s missions via student leadership. In addition, all Executive Board members are
required to attend General Council meetings, and Executive Board meetings,
schedule and attend weekly office hours.
ICC President Responsibilities
The Inter Club Council President is the figurehead for the
entire organization, and as such has the responsibility to ensure that his/her
image and ethics is representative of that of the council as a whole.
Among the additional responsibilities of the President are the
creation and planning of all ICC related special events, give-aways and
activities throughout the schoolyear.
The President is also in charge of presiding over both General Council
and Executive Board meetings throughout the schoolyear. The President is responsible for supervising
all other Executive Board members and providing feedback and setting goals for
him/herself and others. In addition, the
President must continually evaluate and rework existing procedures, and develop
improvements to enhance the effectiveness of the organization as a whole.
In the larger context of student organizations on campus, the
ICC President must also participate in Executive Council meetings with the
heads of the Student Government Association, Student Programming Board, Inter
Fraternity Council and Panhellenic Council to discuss, coordinate and evaluate
how student dollars are being spent.
ICC VP Organizational
Development Responsibilities
The Inter Club Council Vice President of Organizational
Development is, perhaps, the most involved with delegate interaction of all
Executive Board members. As such, this
individual must organized and efficient, and must be able to effectively
communicate with delegates.
Among the additional responsibilities of the VP of
Organizational Development are ensuring the organization of the Council’s
meetings (including, but not limited to room reservations, setup requests if
necessary, taking and recording attendance, and creation of PowerPoints and all
display materials) In addition, the VP of Org Development leads the
organization registration/accreditation process, and the registration renewal
process. This individual is in charge of
receiving, reviewing and processing all General Fund and Student Development Fund
resolutions and scheduling the necessary Executive Board meetings with
submitters of such resolutions.
ICC VP Finance Responsibilities
The Inter Club Council Vice President of Finance is the most directly
involved with organizing Council finances and the reimbursement process. As such, this individual must be organized
and efficient, and must be able to work effectively with Microsoft Excel.
Among the additional responsibilities of the VP of Finance
are creating the Council’s Master Budget for the year (to be ratified at
the first General Council meeting), preparing official dockets for each General
Council meeting throughout the semester, disburse funds in support of ratified
resolutions, review and approve post-resolution reports and reimbursement
requests, oversee purchasing card usage.
The VP of Finance must also take responsibility for the implementation
of the flowback process, and be able to provide accurate numbers for the
remaining budget at the end of each meeting and between meetings upon request.
ICC VP Public Relations
Responsibilities
The Inter Club Council Vice President of Public Relations is
the most directly involved with coordinating the publicity of all ICC funded
events and disseminating information related to these to the general campus
public. As such, this individual must be
creative, enthusiastic about student events, and have a firm grasp of the
publicity outlets available on campus.
Among the additional responsibilities of the VP of Public
Relations are designing and producing relevant ICC related materials,
partnering with campus media outlets to heighten publicity for ICC sponsored
events, maintaining the bulletin boards outside the office and updating the ICC
website. In addition, the VP or Public
Relations must continually develop innovative methods of getting the word out
to the student body about ICC events in a way that is both effective and
interesting.
E-Board Benefits
Being on the Inter Club Council Executive Board provides students with an opportunity to aid in the development of a framework for student leadership on campus. Among the benefits of being on the Executive Board are the designated workspace at the Inter Club Council office in Tyler Campus Center Room 256, support from fellow Executive Board members, and Student Activities staff members, a monetary stipend in an amount approved by the General Council (currently $1000 per semester per Executive Board member).
